The
2007 National Rally was held as usual at Thoresby and I am glad to say
was attended well this year after the poor turnout last year. The format
of the event was similar to previous years. We trunddled up on the Thursday
evening with friends and met others who had done the same. The Thursday
and Friday are informal days with setting up by stall holders ready for
the weekend. The Saturday starts off with the opertunity of taking part
in the driving games. I participated this year and took my friend with
me as you have to have a passenger. The games are all for fun but are
made easier if you have an open top as it make the tasks easier. My collegue
was useless at throwing so we must put in pratice for next year. At noon
we all lined up for the fun run which takes the vehicles on a run of about
25 miles through back roads in general and is very pleasant. The run ends
at a local pub for refreshment before making your own way back. Saturday
night is held up at the large hall where a small group and bar kept us
all entertained along with a raffle. Sunday is the main show day where
all the vehicles are on display and you can have a good chat with other
members. I was fortunate this year in obtaining first place in my class
which was totally unexpected as I was eating an ice cream at the time.
The evening concluded with a game of rounders with the children if you
had the energy. A good weekend made by hard work and the good weather.
